# Siknäsfortet — Cold War Underground Fortress Museum

Siknäsfortet (Swedish: "Siknäs Fortress") is a preserved Cold War-era underground
military fortress and museum in northern Sweden. The fortress is 40 meters under
ground, was engineered to survive nuclear weapons, and is part of the Kalixlinjen
(Kalix Line) defensive system that protected Sweden's northern flank during the
Cold War.
